Things I've learned from my dogs

  1. You don't always have to accomplish tasks in a conventional manner. Getting the job done is what is important.
  2. It is perfectly acceptable to come right out and tell someone that you are fond of them.
  3. Naps are good things and should be taken advantage of whenever possible.
  4. Lots of things happen during the course of a normal day. Come 5:00, be ready to put it all down and enjoy what life has to offer.
  5. When all else fails, smile. Its so much easier to be happy.
  6. Squirrels must die. Don't really know why that made the list, but apparently this is something very important to them.
  7. Be patient with others (squirrels excluded.)
  8. Take time to soak up your surroundings. Enjoy the day. We only get one shot at life.
  9. If the sun is out, the best place to be is outside.
  10. Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is to just be there.
  11. Life is not complicated if you have your priorities straight.
  12. Its better to give than to retrieve.
  13. When you screw up, own up to it immediately while trying to look as guilty and as sorry as possible.
  14. Regular exercise is for the birds. Regular playing is where it's at.
  15. Finally, never forget who you are and what you are all about.

Amazing how wise those girls of yours are. :) Know that we've learned a thing or two from our old gal (she's a labrador/ old english mix-kinda looks a little like an afghan hound- go figure!) in the 12 1/2 years she's been with us. Lately, the most important lesson is just to live each day as it comes. I'm working hard on that one. (that and there is no better word on earth than "cookie".) Enjoy your time with them. It's always too short.

What I've learned from my dog:
blankets taste good. I can't confirm that though.. Since she's eaten no less than five now, they must be.

I have a new blog:

My two have taught me, stealing a treat from someone when they aren't looking is quite acceptable, and, no bone comes with one's name on it....whomever has possession owns.
