A great Saturday

This morning, some passing showers yielded to some sun and much warmer temperatures. Some people complain that winter doesn't feel like winter here in the Houston area. Today it almost hit 80 with the same predicted through Monday. That's what I'm talkin' about! Those people who want their winters to feel like winter should move or take more trips to see winter in person. At the very least, they need to quit their bitchin'!

After morning cleaning and errands, I had the pleasure of a lunch "date" with the woman who I passed a "will you go with me? Check yes or no" note to back in the mid 80s. She checked yes and we have been the best of friends ever since. Back in the 5th grade, after the note, I was too scared to talk to her, but we were "going together." We never actually went anywhere, but in elementary school you aren't really all that mobile anyway.

Twenty-plus years later, we can talk about anything. Today, we both find ourselves at a crossroads...and we talked at length about it. The conversation was not always "sunny." There were times when voices began to shake and pauses for composure were required, but beer and margaritas were readily available, so we got through it!

I don't think anything about the crossroad was resolved, but I feel better about mine and I hope she feels better about hers. I am blessed to have such a special friend. We hadn't seen each other in about a year and a half, but after we sat down to lunch it was like we'd just seen each other last week. Sure, we talk on the phone from time to time, but you just can't replace face to face time.

As we said our goodbyes, she gave me a late Christmas present that I'll be able to proudly display next year. Tess must have been chasing a squirrel or something shiny...or maybe she was just off chewing on a stick...

I got some Golden Retriever boxer shorts from my parents for Christmas. How happy are you right now that I didn't post a picture of that?!

Funny enough, I have a Christmas ornament of a Golden holding a snowglobe with a tree in it. This reminds me of it. I have many things Golden, besides the two that cost me a fortune! Speaking of, did you see the pic of them both in a picture. Ferris hasn't a clue.

I have a friend like that too...we haven't talked in a long while. I may just pick up the phone today. :)

I don't have a really close friend like that. Wish that I did. Be careful of the road signs, when at a crossroads. The easiest decision can affect a life time. ( now don't you feel good) hehe
