Before...

After...

.

Some struggles are worth photographing...in the same way that some ducks are worth fighting for. Sorry, Daisy, its a retriever thing. Your effort has been duly noted.

What goes with whine?

I'm sick and I've got deadlines. I'm being forced to work after hours to pick up some slack...while coughing up a lung.

Thank Goodness I'm fortunate enough to have a couple sexytaries to get me through the hard times.

Feeling like death warmed over has its perks though. When you get the strength to head out to the mailbox, you might be lucky enough to be summoned for jury duty. I hope they pick me...

Goodnight...

Can you spot the good dog?

Here is a hint...It's the Golden Retriever in the picture.

Need another hint?

No couch rule #2

Let's check in on the no dogs on the couch rule, shall we?

Nope...no dogs on my couch.

Sure, if you are going to get technical, there is a "dog" on the couch. I think it would be best if we didn't split hairs on defining the word "dog" though. There are all kinds of different breeds out there that have their own specific talents.

How do I define "dog?" Easy...

Let's see Poodle make that catch! Or this one...

Loopholes

Dogs are not allowed on my couch.

Technically, she isn't "on" the couch, she is on the comforter that serves as buffer between her butt and the couch. Few juries in America would convict her given such evidence. However, I just looked at the Drudge Report and he has a shocking new photo (and siren) that may or may not blow this case wide open.

Apparently, someone has photos of one of my dogs violating the "no couch rule."

Let's look at what Drudge has posted, shall we...

It's a clear violation and someone must pay, but the image is grainy and there is little proof that it was in fact a Golden Retriever who violated the law. It looks sort of like a poodle paw to me. I for one will not jump to conclusions. When the dna comes back we will have more answers and hopefully some resolution. Until then, stay strong and hope.

Updated: Nevermind. Guilty.

Molly and Tess seem bored...

...so I got them each a dog of their own.

In the middle, we have the most forlorn toy poodle...Gatsby (or Poodle to those who know him) and Daisy...a dog who gets a headache when she thinks. I swear, if you put your ear next to her ear you can actually hear the ocean.

Dog sitting can be fun. And to think, it wasn't that long ago when Poodle and Tess couldn't be in the same room together without a knock down, drag out fight. Poodle now knows that what you know isn't as important as who you know.

Her Majesty

I have no idea how she does it, but good ole Molly always seems to scramble to find a sunny spot and pose when she sees the camera come out. That other dog, not so much. It's been said that the only thought that ever goes through Tess' mind is a sound clip of "Walkin' on Sunshine" on repeat mode. I tend to agree. Oh well...The good news is that Tess has other talents. She is very adept at catching balls that I throw on the roof. Does she wait for it to roll off and calmly make the catch? Heck no...where is the drama in that?

The elusive "back flip catch" will have to wait for another day. The mosquitoes were killing me!

Sshhhhh. The acrobat needs her rest if you are ever going to see a back flip. While they are sleeping, how about checking out almost the exact same video from Tess' younger days. This was before she learned how to leap with style. I always tell her that she is a good girl, seriously, but does she listen? The jury is still out.

Reason number 519

Saw this headline and just had to add to my list:

Dog Performs Heimlich Maneuver on Owner

What CAN'T they do?

Where the hell have I been?

This little gem has been occupying quite a bit of my time of late...well, that and the NCAA tournament. I've been working on this design concept for a few weeks...for free...in hopes that we would earn the design commission. We were competing against some big names. Some of these names were very familiar to me because I read about them in school in text books. Sure, it was a long shot. I gave it my best effort. I tried to boil the project down to its bare bones in only one drawing. I tried to identify all the problem areas to show that we have a grasp on the details of the project. Try as I may...they awarded us the job anyway!

We found out this afternoon.

It sure is nice to know that I'm chained to a drafting table for the next few months...not to mention they also want us to build the darn thing. Tonight I think I'll drink a toast...Molly and Tess might even get bones!

Legal Disclaimer: If you think it might be a good idea to take Molly's bone and you have never done it before, you might want to warm up by stealing one from Tess first. Or, maybe you prefer to live on the edge...

I've lost my focus

Every now and again I snap a picture I wish I could go back and take again. When I took this one, I knew it would be a winner. It was not to be. Fear not...I have a sneaking suspicion that one day very soon I'll get a second chance at this one. It seems the Tess likes to jump high and jump often...especially when there is a ball involved.

The longer days and warmer weather will afford many more opportunities for back porch beer drinking and dog launching!
